British Transplant Games 2025

3rd August 2025.

Royal Papworth Hospital (specialists in heart & lung) have 6 doubles teams of Pétanque players taking part at Blenheim Palace on Sunday 3rd August 2025 (with about 45 doubles teams)
Although the British Transplant Games are in their 47th year, Pétanque was only introduced last year (although it has been played at the World & European Transplant championships)
All players have received a lifesaving/quality of life enhancing organ transplant. The Royal Papworth transplant team for 2025 is made up of 44 transplant recipients, a couple of people still waiting for transplant and their family & friend supporters. They are competing in, volleyball, golf, track & field, cycling, four different racquet events, walking amongst other events.
Karen Mills, Totham Swan PC, who is part of the Royal Papworth team, also competes for the GB team at the European & World Transplant Championships (11 years after her double lung/bilateral lung transplant in 2014!)
We were delighted to support them at Towers Pétanque Club with a training day in June.
