Vauxhall Pleasures Gardens Triples Competition – Saturday 2nd February

Report from Jean Wilmot

London Petanque Club host a triples competition on the first Saturday of every month.
This is held in Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, London.

Francois Bourquin, Dawn Allan and Jean Wilmot entered this competition on Saturday 2nd February.

The pistes are in the centre of the gardens with a large playing area intermingled with trees.
It was an extremely cold day with a few snowflakes falling with some sunshine.
They played three games before lunch winning two games making it through to the main competition.
The only interruption was when the air ambulance landed on the grass area beside the pistes.

After lunch, in a local Portuguese café, they played in the quarter final but unfortunately lost this.
Although disappointed they felt it was a good experience.

The local players made them feel very welcome.
