JUNIOR WEEKEND OF EXCELLENCE

Four Eastern Counties Juniors attended the two-day coaching course at Whittlesey on Saturday and Sunday 28/29 November: Harry Waldie, Chris and Gavin Wilmot, and Sam Mellen (Sunday only).
A total of 16 players attended overall, representing eight regions.
In teams and individually, each player participated in a variety of pointing and shooting skills, holding the boule, body stance, team and piste etiquette. A variety of bars and circles were used to control height and distance of throws. Each junior was able to see a video of their arm movement in various throwing with commentary by the coaches.
Using a video of a France v Thailand match, the group were asked to discuss and suggest playing tactics after each throw took place. This was judged to be particularly rewarding and attracted concentrated response.
The coaches are to be congratulated on their very helpful, economic commentary, allowing for much enjoyment in an enthusiastic and purposeful weekend.
