Hi everyone,

So another season comes to a close, and congrats go to Towers1, whose winning margin this season was quite something. Well done guys!

Also to Victorians 1 for battling into second place. When you look at the final league positions, the battle for the mid table ended up quite closely fought, with positions 3-6 separated by less than 3 points.

I would like to gather together for an AGM in September, as it has been a few years since the last one, and some points have been raised by participating teams which I would like to discuss. Venue and exact date will be forwarded in August.

Other than that, I hoped you all enjoyed the season once again. My thanks as always to Brenda for all the organistion she has done to keep the league running smoothly.

I look forward to seeing you at the AGM in September, and again at the start of next season in October.

Until then, have a good summer, and bye for now

Andy

Report from Ron Turner
Sunday 28th October saw the first rounds of the 2007/08 Winter League fixtures held this year for the first time at the Chigwell Petanque Club Piste, Metropolitan Police Sports Club Chigwell.
As with most of the McMullens Summer League matches held at the venue we were greeted with rain, but fortunately not the extent of the summer months.
Matches soon got away to a brisk start with Potters Bar PC taking 3pts off of the new addition to the league Britannia 2, 8-13 & 5-13.
Whilst Towers 1 quickly took 3pts from Thorley PC, 13-0 & 13-5.
Britannia 1 succeeded in taking 2 pts against Towers 2 after conceding their first game, Britannia came back strongly to take the second game 13-1.
Victorians 2 were up against their fellow club members Victorians 1 after losing the first game 13-9 they fought back to to claim the 2pts by winning the second game 7-13.
Casualties of the first round without any points were Thorley and Britannia 2, better fortune in the 2nd Round perhaps.

With the weather still threatening the 2nd Round matches were begun without further delay.
Potters Bar on a 'roll' dispatched Victorians 1 taking all 3 pts with scores of 13-6 & 13-9 also still in a successful mode Towers 1 completed their full bag of points by taking both games from Towers 2 at 9-13 & 6-13.
Victorians 2 after taking the first game 13-5 against Britannia 1 their opponents came back strongly 12-13 to snatch a point.
Britannia 2 had their first taste of success in the league by taking the points from Thorley 5-13 & 12-13.
Next fixtures of the Herts and Essex Winter League is a trip round the M25 to Oakmere Park, Potters Bar on the 11th November 10.30am start.
