Eastern Counties Region Petanque players were in good form at the recent English Petanque Associations first National Triples qualifier held in Hampshire.
With 33 teams from around the UK taking part, ECR’s Herve Bavazzano is in pole position. Along with his team mates Baker (London), Rousseau (W.Midlands) & Claydon (Chiltern) they remained the only unbeaten team throughout the days play.
In third place are the ECR team of Chris Allen, Vanessa Webb & Sofiane Lachani who, along with team mate Nick Baxter from Kent, only lost one game all day to a team from Kent who went on to finish ahead of them in second place.
Close behind in 4th place are the all ECR team of Dean Little, Keith Flack & Dinesh Seetahul who won 5 of their 6 games, two of them 13-0 and only just losing out 13-12 to a team from London/Southern regions.
In a creditable 19th place is ECR’s Adam Buxton, Dave Mark & Vince Schofield who won 3 out of 6, including a good 13-2 win over a team from the Isle of Wight.
All players are playing to improve their EPA rankings and the top team will represent England in international matches & the forthcoming World Championships.
