On a chilly Saturday morning on the first day of the New Year several members of the club turned up to the Marne Inn public house to play in the annual club Morning After competition and blow away a few cobwebs from the night before. The competition is played in a straight knock-out format and the semi-finals saw Bob Jennings play Maggie Groves and Mike Smith face Maggie’s husband Ian.

It wasn't to be an all Groves final as Bob and Mike were both triumphant. In the final the two players started equally matched and reached six all before Mike, playing for over the 20th time in the competition, stole a march and went twelve six up. Bob pulled it back to twelve nine before tiredness took its toll and Mike won the final point he needed to take the prize once again.

The competition completed, we retired inside for a well earned drink and presentation to the winner and gallant runner up.
