The Ashton & Thorogood Memorial Open Doubles competition, comemorating two late members of Towers PC was held on 2/10/11 at the Tower Arms on the hottest October Sunday for 100 years!
Teams from Rayne Swan, Thorley, Victorians, Chequers and Towers took part in perfect Petanque weather - almost like playing in the south of France.
Winners and runners-up of the morning leagues contested the top four spots and in the final, Dave Piper and Vic Bradbury (Towers) were beaten by Matt Smith and Dean Little (Rayne Swan &/or Towers!)
Towers President, Peter Way ably organized the competition and presented the prizes.
