Stisted Village day
Report from Trevor Blows
Six pairs, with players from five clubs, took part in the event on a sunny day at the new
village hall car park. It was a chance for some to ‘ditch’ their usual partners and play with
someone from another club. This proved a great success. Each team played five games in a round
robin format. After a break to watch the Red Barrows on the village field, the teams played
off to decide the finishing positions.
Winners were Tracey Austin (Onley Arms) and Malcolm Smith (Bocking) who defeated Ian Morgan
(Feering Sun) and Tom Smith (Rayne Swan) 13-4.
Dave and Pam Adams (Bocking) who missed a final
place on points difference, took third place beating Tom Winter (Sun) and Dave Bird
(Feering Bell) 13-5.
Daniel Blows (Onley Arms) and Jack Pearse (Bell) took the wooden spoon
losing their game 13-1 to Russell Bingham (Sun) and (no mercy father!!) Dave Pearse (Bell).
Thanks to all who attended. If another Village day is planned in 2011 we will look to organise
another event.
One spectator told me that he used to play at the Trades and Social club and was pleased to see
the game still active in Braintree.
