Rayne Swan PC Doubles Melee Sunday 10th October
The inaugural Rayne Swan 2004 Club championship took place on
Sunday 10th Oct and in glorious autumn sunshine an enjoyable day was had by all.
Playing in a doubles melee, where you change partners every round, six rounds were played in all
and the eventual winner, by just one point, was Clare Courtney. After losing her first game to 8,
Clare went on to win the next 5 with a +27 points difference. Second place was taken by Lorne Gibson
who also won 5 with a points difference of +26. Colin Sams had exactly the same and it took a
playoff to decide the 2nd & 3rd places. Dennis Smith & Terry Newman were sitting equal bottom with
only 1 win and both on -29. Lots were drawn and Dennis & Colin teamed up against Lorne & Terry to
sort out the final placings, and a win for Lorne & Terry put Colin into 3rd place and left Dennis
taking the wooden spoon.
Thanks to Roy once again for his support and some lovely grub.
