Coggeshall Carnival Charity Petanque evening

8 teams took part in the Coggeshall Carnival Charity Petanque evening held at the Coggeshall Conservative Club on Friday evening.
Four teams from the BDPL and 4 from the Con Club had a very enjoyable evening competing for the Carnival trophy and the successful pair were Clare Courtney and Colin Sams from Rayne Swan PC.

In group 2, Courtney and Sams were unbeaten with wins over Hannah and Kate, Roy and Paul and the Feering Sun team of Tom Winter and Ian Morgan.

Group 1 saw the Onley team from Stisted just scrape through by 1 point over the Con Club’s Kevin and Dennis.
Kevin and Dennis lost their first game against Dave Bird and Dave Pearse from Feering Bell, but played very well to beat Onley and Les and Tonia.
Onley’s Trevor and Dan Blows also won two and just the 1 extra points difference saw them through to the final.
The final was a very close affair swinging first one way then the other with good shooting by both Trevor Blows and Colin Sams, but was knicked on the last end by the Swan pair.
A very sociable and fun evening and highly recommended for next year.
