Rayne Swan Charity Doubles, Sunday 30th September

The annual Rayne Swan charity doubles took place on Sunday and over £250 was raised for the National Society for Epilepsy & Support Dogs charities.
On a lovely warm autumn day there was a very good turnout which saw 16 teams competing in the morning group stages. The top two teams from each group progressed to the afternoon knockout stages.
Of these, 3 teams went through unbeaten, Bill Eve & Simon Doble, Colin Sams & Dean Middleton, and PYC.
The bottom 2 teams from each group went through to the plate competition.
The results went with the formbook with PYC defeating Sams & Middleton in the semi finals, while Eve & Doble reached the final after coming back from 10-4 down to win 13-11 against Bob Lawrence & Clare Courtney.
Eve & Doble went on to take the Alison Lingard Memorial Shield with a 13-7 win over PYC in the final.
The plate competition saw Rayne Swan pair Lionel Alcorn & Lorne Gibson reach the final where they defeated local rivals Scott Wilsdon & Mark Sainsbury from Rayne Cock. In a very close game with some excellent pointing from both teams the Swan just scraped through 13-12 to win the NSE Trophy.
Thanks to all who sposored the event especially Rayne Swan Landlord Roy House, Roz Lingard & Daniel Robinson & Sons Ltd.
