The Braintree League Triples tournament took place at Colne Angel and the Chequers pair of Frank Britt & Bill Eve teamed up with Rayne Swan's Adam Buxton to take the title.
They were unbeaten after the mornings play and met Colne's Dave Mark & Wendy Ridehalgh and Trevor Blows from Onley, in the semi final. Britt, Eve & Buxton were again untroubled and moved comfortably into the final.
There they met Rayne Cock 1 who had defeated the Colne Angel trio of Simon Bird, Julie Constable & Daphne Barrow, in a very close & hard fought game.
Tony Hird, Paul Linehan & James Hardy (Rayne Cock) did exceptionally well to reach the final but were no match for the strong opposition and went down 13-6.
