The Teddington Cup Doubles

After celebrating the 31st anniversary of the club on September 8th, the Teddington cup doubles was held the next day in fine weather on a dusty and uneven terrain.
Originally a mixed family doubles competition, the Teddington was contested by six teams split into two groups.
After the round robin, the two top teams would progress to the final.
Of the six teams, three were mixed family pairings.
In group A both Trevor and Denise Blows, and Christine Hunt, playing with Rick Norfolk, defeated Derek Roughton and Barry Hayward, to set up a last match decider. Hunt and Norfolk started well, taking a 7-0 lead. But with Denise, playing her first game for 2 months, finding her form, the Blows pairing closed to gap. At 11-10, the Blows pairing opened the head and pointed in for the two winning shots.
In group B, Daniel and Nikki Blows started well, defeating Tracey Austin and Stella Harrington. Austin and Harrington then beat Brendan and Suzanne, who in turn beat the Blows pairing in the final group game. With one win apiece, Austin and Harrington went through to the final on points.
The final was very close with both teams trading points. Excellent pointing and shooting on both sides took the score to 11-11 but it was Denise and Trevor Blows who won the last end to take the trophy.
An excellent weekend that saw 26 members enjoy their Saturday get together followed by a close competition on the Sunday.
