The Club Singles, Sunday 24th June
The Onley petanque club hosted their first club competiton since 2004.
The club singles was won in a close final by Gary Dear.
The day saw eight players, past and present, split into two leagues of four. The leading player in the
league format was Daniel Blows, winning all three matches to secure a semi-final spot.
Gary Dear
ended as runner-up to Daniel in their league.
In the other league, the runners-up spot was decided
in the last game, with Chris Hunt beating Tracey Austin to reach the semi-finals.
The semi-finals saw Trevor Blows play Gary Dear and Daniel Blows take on Chris Hunt.
Gary Dear won
a close match 13-10 to reach the final.
Chris Hunt took an early lead against Daniel Blows but he
came back to win the match 13-8.
This final ensured a new name on the trophy, with neither finalist having won the trophy before.
The game was close all the way through. With Daniel 12-10 up, Gary levelled the match 12 all. The last
end saw Gary point well and win the trophy.
A great afternoon enjoyed by both players and spectators.
