The club had been active for several years, in the main
clubhouse there are numerous Trophies still displayed in the show case some relating to town
twinning in France, but then the club folded and the name of Chigwell Petanque disappeared off
the sporting map.
The piste approx 18m x 18m has suffered over many years possibly about 10 or even more to the
ravages of the weather, children on cycles, playing of Basket ball in a solitary net and many
other activiities which do a Piste no good at all.
The grounds are very attractive set
in 42 acres of rural Essex, trees and grass everywhere, where the game could be played on a
summers evening accompanied by the peal of bells from the village church.
The
club has recently re-formed, the piste brought up to scratch and now just needs members.
