Victorians honours its veterans

At the 20th Annual General Meeting of the Victorians four founder members were granted Life Membership.
Peggy Jessop, our first Treasurer (1990-92) will be remembered as much for her table-top dancing as her petanque prowess, Jenny Clifford our second President (1992-4), Albert, her husband as second Treasurer (1993-5) and Bob Wilmot as first Secretary (1990 – 2009), the only member who could do joined-up writing.
The ladies were presented with bunches of flowers and all four members received scrolls recording their efforts designed by Derek Sutton.

Alan Newland Memorial Triples

As you may be aware Chiltern Region (and more importantly Denise and Family) suffered the loss of a one of our Regions largest and best-loved characters, Alan Newland.
As part of our remembering Alan, Chiltern region are arranging The Alan Newland Memorial Triples on June 26th 2010, in order that we can remember Alan and also raise money for his families chosen charity, The British Heart Foundation.
Over the years that Alan played Boule, he made many friends, not just in our Region, but in many regions across the United Kingdom because of his friendly nature.
The event is open to all-comers and we would very much like to see as many people from outside Chiltern Region as possible, so please encourage any of your members that knew Alan to try and attend.

Coggeshall Carnival

This year during carnival week the Coggeshall Conservative Club will be holding a petanque competition to raise money for charity.
The competition is due to be held on Friday 16th July from 7 pm in the evening.
I wonder whether anyone would like to come and take part? We charge £2.50 per couple. The trophy is awarded on Saturday following the carnival procession.
We would welcome anyone interested in taking part.
