Only one game went ahead this week in the Daniel Robinson & Son’s Ltd sponsored Braintree & District
Petanque League.
It was a local derby between Rayne Cock 1 & Rayne Swan 2 which saw a good away win by the Swan team.
The opening triples game was fairly even until the score reached 8-7 in Swan’s favour, after falling
short with all their boule the Cock had to stand and watch the game disappear as the Swan triple pointed
in for 5 and the game.
Two regional junior team mates were on opposite sides in the doubles and Cock’s James Hardy partnered
by Scott Wilsdon came out on top over Harry Waldie & his father Matt, winning 13-7.
Tom Smith wrapped up the deciding singles game 13-9 against Paul Linehan to claim the first win of
the season for the Swan team.
