Holiday in FRANCE 2010
At the Mediterranean seaside resort of VALRAS PLAGE
(near Beziers – the bit of Mediterranean coastline that bends round towards Spain) a studio apartment
for self-catering holiday rental. Situated in ‘Residence du Port’ the apartment has a balcony and is
modern, very clean, furnished ‘Habitat’ style and nicely decorated.
Sleeps Two adults and will also accommodate two children.
Rentals vary from £290 per week to £365pw for 2010 all dates are available
The apartment is about 160 ‘paces’ to a lovely sandy beach one way and also to the marina a
similar distance. The town centre is just around the corner with colourful pavement cafes, shops,
lots of restaurants and daily market.
Lots to do ……….or not ……..just relax on the beach or in a sea-front boulevarde café in the hot
sun with a cool drink under a colourful parasol.
Any questions ? we’re happy to help

Daily Markets both Farmer’s and Fisherman’s.
- ‘Wonderful’ take your camera there are some unusual fish to photo and very fresh fish to buy for
lunch……. maybe on the balcony.
- Picpoul de Pinet white is the local wine to choose. If you wish you can try ‘Degustation de
Coquillages’ fresh oysters served with squirts of local lemon juice and a glass of wine.
- OR ….choose from the very reasonable priced lunch menus at one of the many excellent restaurants
in Valras Plage… and then…after lunch sit at Chez Meme’s bar to watch the boules players, or in the
hot sun outside Le Pelican pavement café in the square and pass the afternoon with a glass of wine or
a cold beer listening to romantic music from café entertainers……..….. aaah bliss !
You can hire bikes in Valras and poddle along through the vineyards inland to
some of the quaint villages – stop for a rural lunch in the village square and back again via the
Canal du Midi towpath (as seen on TV Rick Stein) In the Summer months there are shows at the free
open air theatre, just go along and enjoy the fun from Parisian fashion shows, talent contests,
singers, dancers, comedians, full Orchestras and all sorts of variety acts. Very French and
all great fun. Or stroll along the sea-front to the Casino stopping in a pavement café many of
which have singers for a romantic evening.
The beach is large and sandy and cleaned every morning as are the pavements. The Maire of Valras
Plage is a Doctor and ‘yes’ you can drink the water, and the rubbish is emptied daily. Valras has
won an award for catering for families with children. There are slides and a small kiddies funfair
on the beach.
The flat is small but modern and practical, bright and cheerful. There is a TV, sofa, coffee
table, pine dining table and chairs. A kitchenette all well equipped. Bathroom and a separate wc.
The balcony is in the sun nearly all day long with a striped ‘awning’ to roll out if it gets too hot.
Table and chairs on the balcony for eating out. Please don’t imagine a ‘Hollywood Apartment’
it’s not, just a small ‘studio’ but just the job for your holidays ! It is situated on the third
floor (lift) of Residence du Port at the rear- no sea views the balcony overlooks a quiet square
with trees, but of course from the front door of the building you can stroll to the beach in under
one minute.
RESIDENCE DU PORT is shown on the picture above being the building immediately above the ‘S’ in
VALRAS with the smokey coloured balconies….you can see you are in a good spot and the beach is
just to the left and the Marina to the right.
If you go by car you can explore the historic and spectacular Haut Languedoc inland, there are
leaflets in the flat with suggestions for fascinating ‘days out’ there are many sites of Roman
presence, Cathar castles, quaint villages with sparkling streams to picnic by….and numerous wine
producing Domains offering tours and tastings.
Some of these ‘Domains’ have outlets in Valras where you can buy wine at very reasonable prices
(say under £1 a litre for a very nice rose)

Car parking is plentiful and free in Valras. You can park right outside Residence du Port.
Flights are to ‘Montpellier’ or ‘Carcassonne’ or the new ‘Beziers Vias’ then shuttle bus to the rail
station, train to Beziers and taxi to Valras- it’s a doddle. Full details in the Arrival Leaflet
which we will send you when you book. You may hire a car of course but it is not essential as
there’s lots to do in Valras in the summer months and it’s nice and quiet ‘out of season’ and there
is a good bus service if you wish to explore the region.
